Sunday Funday // Running errands in my comfy Nike's

I feel like I've been spoiling my feet lately. These shoes are so comfy and go with basically everything because of their minimalistic look. Today I have them paired with a big comfy heather grey wool sweater [Vera Moda], a burgundy leather crossover purse [Tommy Hilfiger] and comfy black leggings. I am all set for a productive Sunday running errands!

So Long Sweet Summer

Saying goodbye to my summer wardrobe today, although I am putting some things aside for my tripto Hawaii coming up... :)

It's alway tricky changing seasons and figuring out which clothes should be packed away and which things can still be worn in the fall. Since fall fashion is all about layering I still keep most of my tanks & t-shirts out for that purpose. My rule however is to keep only fall colours and mostly keep it monochromatic. I find white, black & grey are the best for layer since they will never compete with the other layers added. This makes it easy to put together outfits, especially in those chilly mornings that have a very good chance of turning into a hot day in the afternoon. Oh September weather... :)

Spring Inspired Room to Kick the Winter Blues

Here is a spring inspired living room from some of my favourite home decor store (West Elm, Pottery Barn, Urban Barn & Elte). To brighten up today cold, cold day I thought I would share this mood board I put together. I wanted to introduce some soft spring inspired colours through accessories but keep the space calm, bright & airy. I choose to use a pale citrus green and sky blue. 

My favourite piece is the  metallic deer taxidermy from West Elm to add a touch of glam, country glam I guess you could say! It ties in nicely with the shiny coffee table base which has a similar rustic glamorous style. I intended to choose a simple sofa and chairs with clean lines to balance the rustic and edgier pieces in the room. And finally, how charming is that chevron wall paper. I would like to see it in an entry way as I have visually displayed it. It  I wish I could re decorate my living room space to look like this right now!

Beautiful Kitchens That Use Colour as a Neutral

How romantic is the powder blue cabinetry in this charming kitchen. Trending this year is the idea of using colour as a neutral. What we typically consider as a neutral (white, beige, grey) is changing path and neutral are getting a refreshing make over so to say... In the more recent years grey has boomed in the custom kitchen industry as a standard cabinet paint finish. If you think about it, grey is considered a colour, a very saturated colour. 

It is interested how afraid we are to see coloured cabinetry and the though brings us anxiety that the 80's/90s decor is coming back in. However, a pale pastel or saturated colour really is not far off from the typical grey we are used to seeing.  This powder blue painted cabinetry works so well as a neutral and add so much warmth and character to this kitchen. I love it! How inspiring to think outside the box and try a 'new neutral'

A few of my favourite things...

1.  Svira Bin

I am so happy with this purchase. I used to have wicker storage baskets in my shelves but I was getting sick of them and I was looking for something with a simple pattern. I found these fabric bins at Ikea so of course I knew they would fit in my Ikea shelves. I love the classic soft grey stripes. Overall a happy purchase! Each bin was $14.99. *Note I added the labels my self using a fun font and printing it on white card paper.

Kate Spade 'Things We Love'
This book is my style inspiration go-to. I mean Kate Spade is the queen of colourful style and bold patterns, so who better to take style advise from! This book will make you feel good and feel inspired to wear a punch of red!

Apartment Therapy Presents: Real Homes, Real People, Hundreds of Real Design Solutions
I love Apartment Therapy and their book of interiors is a great go to for home decor inspiration. The realness of their book is what makes it so neat and was of course to concept behind it all.

BR Gold Ipad Case
Probably my favourite thing I have ever purchase at Banana Republic, and who knew they sold tech accessories. I bought this a year or so ago however I believe it is still purchasable online. I love how I can conceal my Ipad in my book shelf, and the gold binding adds a bit of glam!

Lauren Conrad 'Beauty'
Finally, my beauty go to book when I need help with my hair, skin & nails. I love her tutorials in this book and she shares some great beauty secrets!

3. My little accessories...

My Chanel perfume is from well of course Chanel...

And finally my favourite statement necklace is from The Bay.

Oh last but not least a New Years card from a good friend that is a daily reminder that 'The best is yet to come'. Love it! 

4. My day planner!

I could not live with a day planner. I write too many lists which is why I need something with enough pages and space. This planner was from Martha Stewart's stationary line at Staples. Leave it to Martha to make pretty yet functional stationary.

I came across this interior today. It caught my eye because I find it is rare to see a condo designed with so many "residential" details.

Fabulous Flooring

I love a good flooring pattern find. There are so many ways to create patterns by mixing textures & shades. These are my favourite fabulous flooring pictures for this week!

This stunning marble pattern mixes different tones of natural marble stone to create a chevon-like design. This would be stunning in a master bathroom.

This wood pattern is so neat and I love how the grains go different directions to add interesting texture to the floor. The 'greige' wood flooring (could actually be a laminate) would be perfect for a foyer. I think it would look neat set within a wood border.

How gorgeous is this pattern? I love the use of a polish rich shimmery stone mixed with a matte finish dull stone and the white border tile finishes it off perfectly. I would love to see this in a powder room!

This pattern has a more rustic look compared to the others I have shared. I think what caught my eye was the use of 4 colours that create a galmorous/rustic look. I would label this style the modern farmhouse, which is a style trending this year. The natural wood has a gold appearance and mixed in with the white, black and silvery painted woods creates glamour and richness. To top it off the pattern gives the design a real modern dynamic look.

Marble again! I love a creative marble pattern and this one is very cool. The weave pattern blends the 3 marble tones together effortlessly. This would be a great tile in a powder room or master bathroom.
